ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The Australasian Doctors’ Health Conference (ADHC) Scientific Committee is now calling for  abstracts for the ADHC 2022 to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide, South Australia from 1-3 December 2022.

Submitted abstracts should represent original work that is either unpublished or only published within the last year.  The Scientific Committee will allocate abstracts to either a workshop, oral or poster presentation unless the author indicates a specific preference for poster presentation.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS.

Presentations are comprised of a 12-minute presentation and 3 minutes for questions and answers, as part of the three themed conference streams (Individuals, Workplaces and Work Practices and The System)

Titled “6 in 6”, presenters will have a time-limit of 6 minutes with a limit of 6 slides and the opportunity to present to the full conference audience.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS.

Posters are to be printed and brought along to the Conference by the presenter (AO size 841 mm wide x 1189 mm highly recommended as maximum space per author is 845mm wide).  Presenters should bring their own Velcro or pins to affix the posters to the poster boards provided.

Successful poster authors will be encouraged to provide a day and break time/s during the Conference when they will be available to answer questions. This will be promoted to delegates on the conference app.

 

THEMES.

Abstracts should relate to the conference theme of “The Thriving Doctor: towards harmony, productivity and longevity” and focus on the following three key areas, in order to be given preference for inclusion in the program. These will allow the conference to explore current and future models of care and how doctors’ health can be embedded at the individual, organisational and broader health system level.

Self-care, preparation for work, ways to remain a sustainable individual, ways to thrive, the ‘interesting working week’, personal and professional support, creativity, mindfulness, physiology, broader life roles, new frontiers in self-care.

Workplaces, work practices, work environments, challenging workplaces, rural and remote doctors’ health, impact of doctors’ health on recruitment and retention, autonomy and the ideal working week, fatigue physiology and mitigation, innovative initiatives and work-models, futuristic workplaces, peer support and mentoring, new frontiers.

How and where leadership has enacted change; accreditation as a doctors’ health quality improvement tool; work-models that support doctors’ health and wellbeing; innovative solutions that are making a difference; work, health and safety; role of governance in driving positive change; impact of medical board processes on doctors’ health; role of medical defence organisations; new frontiers and best practice.

Submissions exploring other areas of Doctors’ Health will also be favourably considered under this category.

REVIEW PROCESS.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the ADHC 2022 Scientific Committee within three weeks of the closing date.  Where abstracts need to be amended, you will be invited by the Scientific Committee to re-submit these with any suggested changes.  This will enable the Scientific Committee to use the amendment process to assist authors improve the quality and value of their abstract.

To consolidate the conference program, all presenters must register for a minimum of one day of the conference by the Early Bird Registration Deadline 29th August 2022 to avoid withdrawal of the presentation from the program.

Abstract should be submitted online using the abstract template provided by 31st May 2022 using the following guidelines:

ABSTRACT(S) SUBMISSION.

Responsibility for the accuracy of the abstracts and the agreement of co-authors with the content of the abstracts rests with the principal author.

  • The presenting authors of successful abstracts need to register and pay to attend and present at the Conference
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the ADHC 2022 Scientific Committee whose decisions are final.
  • Disclosure of any conflict of interest and sources of funding for research must be made by the authors of an abstract.

CANCELLATION POLICY.

When you submit an abstract for a presentation or a poster, you will hear from the conference organisers whether your submission has been accepted. Please only accept the offer to presenting if you are committed to participating in the conference. Cancellations impose a serious burden and negatively impact the overall quality of the conference program. If extenuating circumstances force you to cancel your participation and you are unable to find a co-author or colleague to give your presentation on your behalf, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible at adhc2022@ampheat.com.au so we can update the program accordingly.
